Week 11

Welcome to Mt. Vernon Intermediate

Dear Students and Families,

It was so nice to welcome students back after a restful fall break! As we begin our second quarter, we reviewed school expectations, and students are doing a great job getting back into their routines.

We have some exciting things happening next week! We’ll celebrate Red Ribbon Week with the theme “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free!” Students will learn about making healthy choices and staying drug-free, along with dress-up days to bring some fun to the week. Be sure to check below for the dress-up day schedule!

Our amazing PTO is also hosting Money Madness next week! See below for more information about this fun event.

On Thursday, students can look forward to our Boo Bash after school until 5:00 PM. Admission is $5 per student, and concessions will be available for purchase. Please be sure to read all the Boo Bash information below, including event expectations and parking and pickup procedures, so everyone is prepared for a safe and fun event.

We’re looking forward to a great week at MVIS!

Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Gustin
Principal

Important Pickup and Parking Information for BOO Bash

To help Boo Bash run smoothly and ensure all students are dismissed safely, please review the following expectations with your child before the event.
Student Pickup Expectations
  • Please make sure your child knows the make and color of the vehicle picking them up, as well as the name of the adult who will be picking them up.
  • Early pickups will not be permitted. Students attending Boo Bash must stay for the entire event until 5:00 PM. If your child cannot stay for the full event, they will need to go home as they typically would on a regular school day. Please make sure your child understands this before Thursday.
  • Students must be picked up on time. Students who are picked up late may not be permitted to attend future after-school events.
Parking and Dismissal Procedures
Please review the aerial parking map below before Thursday so you know where to enter and where to go for pickup.
  • All vehicles must enter through the southern MVIS parking lot, where multi-car riders normally enter.
  • A staff member will direct vehicles to the appropriate parking lot based on their child’s grade level. Families picking up students from multiple grade levels will be directed to the bus lot, which has additional space.
  • For everyone’s safety, all vehicles must remain parked until all students have entered their vehicles and are clear of the lot.
  • A staff member will release vehicles in an organized manner onto 200W. We appreciate your patience as staff work to dismiss all students safely.
  • If your child has not reached your vehicle when cars are released, you will be asked to pull to the side and wait. A staff member will escort your child to you before you leave.
Thank you for reviewing these procedures ahead of time and following staff directions during pickup. Your cooperation is essential to keeping our students safe and ensuring a smooth dismissal at the end of Boo Bash!

Money Madness

Our Money Madness fundraiser is back! This fundraiser is a 4-day competition between homerooms. The fundraiser will run from Tuesday, October 27th - Friday, October 30th. We will be collecting money each morning. Students can bring bills to add to their own homeroom's total, or they can bring coins to sabotage another homeroom and subtract from that homeroom's total!

The top homerooms on our Digital Donation Prize Day, on Thursday, will win a Party Treat Buffet for their class! Our Grand Prize winners will get a one-hour classroom party with a Video Gaming Truck Experience from Gaming Ninjas! The funds raised will be used to offer Classroom Grants to support MVIS teachers and staff.

You can also donate online to your child's homeroom here:
Thank you so much for your support of our school!

Dismissal Reminder

For the safety of our students, we would like to remind families that we do not allow walk-up dismissal at the end of the school day. If you need to pick your student up early, the latest time to pick them up is 3:00 PM. After that time, students will need to be picked up through our car rider line.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe and orderly dismissal process for all students.
