Welcome to Mt. Vernon Intermediate

Dear Students and Families,

It is hard to believe we are in the homestretch with only 3 days left of school! We do not have school on Monday due to Memorial Day, so we look forward to seeing students back on Tuesday. The last day of school will be Thursday. Just a reminder that we will NOT have an early release on Wednesday this week.

We are excited to wrap up the school year strong while celebrating our students and enjoying fun activities, including Field Day. This time of year is a great reminder of how much our students have grown since August, and we are proud of their effort, progress, and accomplishments. We appreciate everything our MVIS families have done to help make this a successful school year.

MVIS Updates & Information

Leaving Mt. Vernon? We Need Your Chromebook Back!

If your family knows that your student will not be returning to Mt. Vernon Community Schools for the 2026-2027 school year, please return your student-issued Chromebook, charger, and protective case to the MVCSC Technology Office next week.

Devices that are not returned will result in replacement charges being assessed to the student account, including the full replacement cost of the Chromebook, charger, and protective case.

Returning devices promptly helps us prepare technology for incoming students and avoid unnecessary fees for families. If you have questions about returning a device, please contact the Technology Department.
 

Dismissal Reminder

For the safety of our students, we would like to remind families that we do not allow walk-up dismissal at the end of the school day. If you need to pick your student up early, the latest time to pick them up is 3:10 PM. After that time, students will need to be picked up through our car rider line.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe and orderly dismissal process for all students.
 

Morning Drop-off Procedures

This is a reminder about our morning drop-off procedures. All doors will be locked at 8:33 AM each day. This allows enough time for students to get to their classes without being marked absent.

If you arrive after 8:33 AM, please drop your student off at Door #1, where staff will assist them in entering the building safely.
 

Lunch Balances - Please Read

Please take a moment to check your child’s meal balance. To avoid any interruptions in meal service, follow the directions below to view your child’s balance and add funds to their account if needed. Thank you for your attention to this important reminder!
  • Log into Skyward as a parent
  • Click “Food Service” on the left
  • Click “Make a payment” in blue
  • Click “Fund lunch” 
  • Continue as a guest or log in/create an account
  • Fill out the information on the screen, including your student’s ID number
  • Add your student and continue on to fund lunch

Attendance Procedures & Reminders

If your student will be absent, please notify the school by 10:00 AM using one of the following methods:
Important Notes:
  • Absence documentation must be submitted within 3 days of the absence.
  • If the student is sick for 3 or more days, a doctor’s note is required for the absence to be excused.
  • For any doctor, dental, or other appointments, a provider’s excuse note is needed for the time missed to be excused.

Picking Students up Early
If your student needs to be picked up early, please notify the school ahead of time to ensure a smooth process:
Please include the following in your message:
  • Student’s name
  • Name of the person picking student up
  • Time of pickup
